Mayor Lawson proclaimed the following:

September 15 - October 15, 2024, as Hispanic Heritage Month to honor the cultures and contributions for Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America.

September as Hunger Action Month to raise awareness about hunger in our nation and inspire our community to make a difference.

September 15 - 21 as National Surgical Technologists Week to recognize the essential role surgical technologists play in the operating room and healthcare teams across the country.
General Business
Council approved:

The appointment of Eric Rose to the Sparks Tourism and Marketing Committee for a term ending December 31, 2027.

The appointment of Matthew Myres as the electrical engineer/electrical contractor representative and Brett McElhaney as the structural/civil engineer, to the Sparks Building Code Board of Appeals, each for a 2-year term, ending September 30, 2026.

The $134,567.27 purchase, with the City of Sparks's share being $51,350.87, of a replacement badging and camera system for the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility consisting of a combination of hardware, software, and contract services from T&R Communications, Inc.

A $122,312.00 agreement for information security services and maintenance from Summit Partners/Adlumin.

The Community Development Block Grant Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report for FY23-24 for submittal to the United States Department of Housing and Urban Development.

An ordinance creating the Special Improvement District No. 1 (Five Ridges); ordering a street project, storm sewer project, sanitary sewer project, drainage project, and water project.

An ordinance concerning Special Improvement District No. 1 (Five Ridges); assessing the cost of local improvements against the assessable property benefited by the local improvements.

An ordinance authorizing the issuance and sale by the City of its Special Improvement District No. 1 (5 Ridges) Local Improvement Bonds, Series 2024 in the maximum aggregate principal amount of $11,845,000, approving the form of certain documents concerning such bonds and ratifying action taken by City officers toward the issuance of such bonds.
