PennDOT Completes U.S. 322 (Horseshoe Pike) Safety Improvement Project in West Brandywine Township

07/08/2024

King of Prussia, PA - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction has been completed on a project to improve the safety of the U.S. 322 (Horseshoe Pike) and Route 82 (Manor Road) Intersection in West Brandywine Township, Chester County.

Work on this project begin in September 2023 to widen the existing roadway to accommodate the construction of left turn lanes on U.S. 322 (Horseshoe Pike); replace existing and install new traffic signals, signal supports and related equipment; replace and install signage related to the intersection; and restore of pavement markings.

The project improves safety by reducing the number and severity of vehicular crashes at the intersection that has experienced a higher-than-average number of rear-end collisions, especially during low light conditions.

While physical construction is complete, traffic signal testing will continue for several months.

Brubacher Excavating, Inc. of Bowmansville, PA, was the general contractor on the $1.9 million project, which was financed with 100 percent federal funds.

Motorists can check conditions on major roadways by visiting www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information, and access to more than 1,000 traffic cameras. 511PA is also available through a smartphone application for iPhone and Android devices, by calling 5-1-1, or by following regional X alerts.
