Daytime One Way Traffic Control, Traffic Shift for State Route 1 (SR 1) Capital Maintenance Project Continues in Marin County

Schedule: Wednesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 6 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Marin County - Caltrans is scheduled to perform electrical work and shoulder widening on the State Route 1 (Shoreline Highway) Capital Preventative Maintenance Project in the first week of September.

One-way traffic control is required for shoulder widening just south of Point Reyes Station from Wednesday, Sept. 4 through Friday, Sept. 6 from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. Flaggers will be present to assist drivers.

A traffic shift may be needed for electrical work in Point Reyes Station in front of the West Marin Elementary School during those same days and hours.

Changeable Message signs will be put up in the areas to remind residents about the construction.

This overall project will repair segments of SR-1 and will include cycling and pedestrian upgrades. The project is slated to make improvements during a nearly 14-mile stretch from Olema through Point Reyes Station and from Tomales to the county line.

The upgrades include pavement resurfacing and repairs; restriping; culvert replacements to improve drainage; shoulder widening to help cyclists; guardrail, crosswalk, and signage upgrades; new signage; and sidewalk and path upgrades to meet disability access standards and improve access to West Marin-Inverness School in Point Reyes Station.

The completion timeline for the project is Summer 2025.
