MPD Arrests Suspect in Northeast Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of a man in the robbery of a cell phone that occurred in Northeast.

On Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at approximately 8:34 a.m., the victim reported being in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northeast, when the suspect approached from behind her and snatched her cellphone. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

Fifth District officers shared the description of the suspect with officers searching for the suspect. The suspect was located in the immediate area and placed under arrest.

As a result of the detective's investigation, 19-year-old Christian Pickney of Northeast, was charged with Robbery.
