WVU president, others to travel to Mountain State communities

WHAT:West Virginia University leaders will join Mountaineer alumni, friends and supporters for events July 25-31 in Wood, Jackson, Kanawha, Monroe, Summers and Pocahontas counties.

Thursday, July 25

• 6-8 p.m. - Parkersburg Country Club, 4910 River Road, Vienna

- Gee attends alumni and friends reception to support the Loyalty Permanent Endowment Fund.

Friday, July 26

• Noon to 1p.m. - Jackson General Hospital, 122 Pinnell St., Ripley

- Gee joins new hospital President and CEO Candace N. Millerto tour the recently completed $35 million state-of-the-art wing for patient carewhich opened in June.

• 2:15-3:30 p.m. - South Charleston High School, 1 Eagle Way, South Charleston

- Gee, WVU College of Applied Human SciencesDean Autumn Cyprès and Kanawha County Superintendent Tom Williams to recognize, congratulate and celebrate the first cohort of WVU Literacy Education Fellows. The WVU Literacy Education Fellows are Kanawha County teachers who are receiving their master's degrees online in literacy education.

Monday, July 29

• 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. - The Magnolia Room, 499-413 WV-107, Hinton

- Gee joins local civic and business leaders for lunch to discuss development efforts. A brief walking tour of Hinton renovations will follow the lunch.

• 1-1:45 p.m. - Summers County Courthouse, 120 Ballengee St., Hinton

- Gee meets with WVU Extensionagents, students and others at the Summers County Courthouse.

Tuesday, July 30

• Noon - Kalico Kitchen, 305 South Main St., Union

- Gee will have lunch with WVU Extension staff, 4-H members, families and local leaders.

Wednesday, July 31

• 10:30 a.m. - Discovery Junction, 709 2nd Ave., Marlinton

- Gee meets with WVU Extension agents, Marlinton Mayor Sam Felton and U.S. Forest Service representatives to hear about the Mon Forest Towns project.

• 11 a.m. - Greenbrier Bikes, 212 9th St., Marlinton

- Gee meets entrepreneurs participating in the Mon Forest Towns economy.

• Noon - Rivertown Cafe, 309 8th St., Marlinton

- Gee joins community leaders, students and friends for lunch.
