Palmdale Lifeguards Achieve “World Class” Score for 18th Consecutive Time

PALMDALE, CA - The City of Palmdale's lifeguard team at DryTown Water Park received a score in the 96th percentile from the National Aquatic Safety Company (NASCO) following an inspection on July 5. This marks the 18th consecutive time the team has achieved a "world-class" score.

NASCO, a leader in safety procedures for aquatics and amusement park facilities, inspects hundreds of water parks across the United States annually. The evaluation criteria include scanning time (speed and accuracy of water surface surveillance), appearance (proper equipment preparation), posture (maintaining a rescue-ready stance), and water slide dispatching (proper management of slide operations).

"NASCO considers a score of 75 to be 'world-class,'" said Mayor Austin Bishop. "Our lifeguards' performance puts them in the upper echelon of NASCO-certified staff. We're incredibly proud of their achievement."

Mayor Pro Tem Richard J. Loa added, "Over the years, our lifeguards have served as a model to the youth that enjoy our swimming and aquatic facilities. This rating reflects the excellent work of our team in training and preparing the lifeguard staff. Their daily efforts ensure a high level of safety for all park guests."
