Weapons – Arrest: C24-164620

Released: July 18, 2024 at 12:55 p.m.

On July 17, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., officers from the West District were patrolling the Osborne Village, one of the areas of focus in the Violent Crime Retail Theft (VCRT) suppression initiative.

Officers were present at a large retailer in the 200 block of Osborne Street, when a male inside the store became confrontational with the officers regarding their presence. The male continued to be belligerant after purchasing an item and left the store.

The officers exited to talk to him and observed two axes sticking out of a bag he was carrying. Staff confirmed they were not from the store.

A 36-year-old male was placed under arrest, and he is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Release Order x 2

He was released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
