CHC Helicopter and Aberdeen International Airport’s Runway Run raises £50,000 for local UK Charities

CHC Helicopter and Aberdeen International Airport hosted the largest Runway Run to date last week and raised over £50,000 for North-East Scotland charities.

The Runway Run is an annual charity event where team members from the operator and the airport, and local community members, take part in a4KM run on Aberdeen International Airport's runway.

This year, over 350 runners participated, the largest cohort to date. The funds raised went to local charities: AberNecessities and the Forget-Me-Not Club.

AberNecessities provides disadvantaged families with the essential and basic necessities no child can go without, such as formula milk. The charity is committed to giving children the best start possible.

The Forget-Me-Not club provides dementia support across Aberdeenshire. They provide support not only to those living with a dementia diagnosis, but also their carers - helping to make life that little bit easier.

Ryan Broadhurst, Captain at CHC Helicopter and lead coordinator of the event, said, "a huge thank you to everyone who took part in this year's Runway Run. I am thrilled we have raised so much for the vital work of AberNecessities and the Forget-Me-Not Club, our efforts will make a great difference to members of our community."

The Runway Run is quite the feat to pull off. As well as the logistics that come with any charity event, the team at CHC Helicopter worked closely with Aberdeen International Airport to ensure our 24/7 search and rescue teams could continue to operate to the highest possible safety standards whilst the event was going on.

Thank you to CHC's fellow event sponsor, Aberdeen International Airport, ABM for making this year's event possible. And to our team in Aberdeen for putting their energy behind this initiative.
