Sweden, Cortellesi’s movie “C’è ancora domani” (‘There’s Still Tomorrow) wins at the Gothenburg Film Festival

Paola Cortellesi's highly acclaimed movie won the Dragon AwardBest International Film at the 47th Göteborg Film Festival, the Scandinavian region's leading film festival, which attracts more than 160,000 visitors each year to attend more than 1,000 screenings of 450 films.

The award is the result of a vote by the public present at the Festival.

The film was screened on 29 and 30 January in the presence of the director and actress, Paola Cortellesi, and of the actress Emanuela Fanelli, who stayed on both occasions for a long discussion with the audience. The two screenings sold out and the film clearly aroused the enthusiasm of those present at the screening. In the following days, Paola Cortellesi attracted the attention of the main local press.

This is the first time an Italian film has won the Best International Film Award at the Gothenburg Film Festival. Three Italian movies had previously won the Ingmar Bergman International Debut Award: Alice Rohrwacher's "Corpo celeste" in 2012; Emma Dante's "Via Castellana Bandiera" (A Street in Palermo) in 2014 and Pietro Marcello's "Bella e perduta" (Lost and Beautiful) in 2016.

"C'è ancora domani" (There's Still Tomorrow) will be distributed in thirty Swedish movie theatres by Folkets Bio starting on 1 March. A public preview will be held on 26 February at the Auditorium of the Italian Cultural Institute in Stockholm, for which bookings sold out in just a few days.
