GE Aerospace Supports U.S. Military Veterans with $400,000 in Veterans Day Donations

Employees take part in seven volunteer events at Fisher House locations nationwide

November 8, 2024, Cincinnati, OH - GE Aerospace announced today it will donate $400,000 to three non-profit organizations in honor of Veterans Day to help support veterans and their families with housing and counseling in times of need, in addition to taking part in seven volunteer events nationwide.

"GE Aerospace is proud to support organizations that provide critical care to our veterans, military service members, and their families, who have sacrificed so much in service to our nation," said Amy Gowder, President and CEO, Defense and Systems, GE Aerospace. "From building and servicing engines that power the U.S. military to hiring and supporting our veterans, GE Aerospace is honored to help make an impact in the communities where we live and work."

The donations include:

  • $335,000 to Fisher House Foundation to support its work providing military and veteran families lodging while their loved one is receiving medical care.
  • $40,000 to Habitat P.L.U.S. to help with transitional housing for veterans with psychiatric disabilities in the greater Boston area.
  • $25,000 to Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) to provide comfort, care, and resources to those grieving the death of a military loved one.

GE Aerospace is proud that more than eleven percent of its U.S. employees are veterans and strives to be the employer of choice for our service men and women. The company received the U.S. Department of Labor HIRE VETS Gold Medallion Award last month.

"We are incredibly grateful to GE Aerospace for donating their time, treasure, and talent," said Ken Fisher, chairman and CEO of Fisher House Foundation. "Thanks to their volunteers' efforts across the country and this generous contribution, military and veteran families will be able to focus on what is most important, healing."

Fisher House has multiple locations around the world helping military and veteran families save out-of-pocket costs for lodging and transportation so service members and their families can focus on loved ones. In addition to today's donation, GE Aerospace employees are participating in multiple volunteer events at Fisher House locations across the United States including:

  • Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio
  • Livonia, Michigan
  • Niskayuna, New York
  • Pompano Beach, Florida
  • Washington D.C.

"GE Aerospace's generous donation to those who have bravely defended our freedom is an inspiration to so many," said TAPS President and Founder Bonnie Carroll. "Their support allows us to care for the families of America's fallen heroes and ensures that no grieving military family walks alone in their grief."

Today's news builds on GE Aerospace's broader efforts to support veterans and their families in communities where we live and work. Earlier this year the company announced a $150,000 donation to two separate charities, Hiring our Heroes in the United States and Forces Employment Charity in the United Kingdom, that support veterans as they transition from military service into the civilian workforce and beyond. In 2024 alone, the GE Aerospace Veteran's Network has held nearly 40 volunteer activities engaging more than 365 employees and contributed more than 1,170 volunteer hours.
