Minister Hasani meets with Rina Amiri

Tirana, September 11, 2024 - The Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Igli Hasani, held a meeting with the U.S. Special Envoy for Afghan Women, Girls, and Human Rights, Rina Amiri.

Minister Hasani praised the work of the senior official in empowering the role of women in society, while emphasizing that her visit to Albania highlights the strength of the Albanian-American relationship and the Strategic Partnership between the two countries.

According to Minister Hasani, Ms. Amiri's support for oppressed women and girls in Afghanistan has made a significant impact on their lives, encouraging their resilience, sense of resistance, and heroism in the face of difficult circumstances.

Minister Hasani assured the U.S Special Envoy U.S. that gender equality and the empowerment of Albanian women and girls remain key objectives of the Albanian government.

It is worth recalling that as part of the Global Network of Partners for Feminist Foreign Policy, Albania joined partner countries last year in a joint declaration calling on the international community to continue focusing on the human rights of women and girls in Afghanistan, urging accountability for the systematic gender persecution by Afghan authorities.
