A welfare check in the town of Plattsburgh turns into an arrest

press release

On December 17, 2024, at approximately 8:56 p.m., Troopers responded to Luciana at Quality Inn located on Route 3 in the town of Plattsburgh for a welfare check of two children. An investigation determined that Jazette Jimenez, age 38, of Mooers, NY, was highly intoxicated with two small children in his presence. When the Troopers were interviewing Jimenez, he was not listening to commands from the Troopers or the Clinton County Sheriff's Department during the investigation. He was refusing to open the door fully to check the safety status of the children. While speaking to Jimenez, law enforcement could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Jimenez eventually opened the door and started being combative with law enforcement while the children were near him. Troopers were able to get the children away from the physical altercation between Jimenez and law enforcement. Jimenez was placed into custody and transported to SP Plattsburgh for processing. The two children were turned over to their mother for safekeeping. At SP Plattsburgh Jimenez continued to be combative and not corporate. Jimenez was charged with 2 counts of endangering the welfare of a child, obstruction of governmental administration 2nd, and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in the Town of Peru Court where he was remanded to Clinton County jail without bail.
