Penn State DuBois to welcome Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers on Nov. 12

DuBOIS, Pa. - The Penn State DuBois Office of Student Engagement will welcome students and members of the public to Hiller Auditorium on Tuesday, Nov. 12, when the Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers visit campus.

The show will begin at 7 p.m. There is free admission, and this event is open to the public.

The Piscataway Nation, native to the Chesapeake and Tidewater regions of Maryland, holds deep historical roots as one of the first tribes to encounter European settlers, including Captain John Smith, in 1608. Today, the legacy of the Piscataway Nation lives on through the efforts of Mark Tayac and the Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers, who are committed to sharing the history and traditions of their ancestors with audiences across the country.

The Piscataway Nation Singers & Dancers are celebrated for their vibrant performances at national venues, such as the Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., and for their contributions to educational programming on channels like the History Channel and Discovery Channel. Through dance, drum and song, they aim to foster a deeper understanding of Native American culture, history and traditions. The performance will feature traditional pow-wow-style American Indian dance, drum and song, bringing the rich heritage of the Piscataway Nation to the campus.
