True Corporation Responds to Chiang Rai Flash Floods, Accelerates Communication System Support and Provides Relief Measures for Affected Customers

11 September 2024

September 11, 2024 - In response to the flash floods in Chiang Rai Province, True Corporation has enhanced its emergency disaster response plan and introduced relief measures for affected customers to ensure reliable communication during the crisis.

Mr. Prathet Tankuranun, Chief Technology Officer of True Corporation Plc., said, "In the face of the flooding crisis in Chiang Rai and other areas, communication is crucial for reporting emergencies and seeking help. True Corporation is committed to maintaining effective communication systems so that people can stay connected even during a crisis."

True Corporation has established a special operations team at the Business and Network Intelligence Center (BNIC), equipped with AI for emergency missions, also known as the "War Room," to monitor the network 24/7. The team has been continuously tracking flash floods, forest runoffs, and overflowing rivers. True's team has also prepared tools, backup equipment, and staff to maintain signal towers at all times.

Due to the Provincial Electricity Authority of Chiang Rai cutting power in some areas for public safety, certain signal towers have switched to temporary battery power. True's network team is closely monitoring the situation and readying four-wheel-drive vehicles or flat-bottom boats to deliver emergency generators to signal towers as soon as conditions allow.

Emergency Preparedness Measures from True Corporation

  • Prepared mobile cell-on-wheel (COW) units for rapid deployment.
  • Vehicles and flat-bottom boats are prepared to access flooded areas.
  • Emergency batteries and generators, along with backup equipment for repairs, are ready in case of emergency.
  • Coordinated with relevant government and private organizations.

Relief Measures for True Corporation Customers

In collaboration with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC), True Corporation has implemented measures to alleviate the difficulties faced by customers in flood-affected areas of Chiang Rai (customers will receive confirmation via SMS):

  • Extended the validity of prepaid services by 7 days and suspended signal disconnections.
  • Extended the payment deadline for monthly customers of TrueMove H, dtac, TrueOnline, and TrueVisions by an additional 7 days to ensure continuous communication.

True Corporation reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the communication system remains effective so people can stay connected during crises and is fully prepared to support affected customers and communities.
