Inauguration of Mexico-European Union Chamber of Commerce in Brussels
  • With this initiative, Mexico seeks to strengthen its economic ties, promote business collaboration and improve trade relations with the 27 European Union member states.

Today, Mexico's Ambassador to the European Union, Rogelio Granguillhome Morfín, led the launch of the Mexico-European Union Chamber of Commerce (MexChamEU) in Brussels, Belgium. This initiative aims to strengthen economic ties, promote business collaboration, and improve trade relations between Mexico and the 27 European Union (EU) member states.

The MexChamEU will complement efforts to strengthen bilateral trade by focusing on sectors with a high potential for growth, such as technology, agriculture, manufacturing, and renewable energy. It will also attract European investment to Mexico, ensuring mutual economic benefits.

Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs María Teresa Mercado Pérez delivered a virtual message at the event, commending the Chamber's launch as a "testament to the enduring partnership between Mexico and the EU that will serve as a bridge bringing our business communities closer together."

Chamber of Commerce President Gokhan Kantarcigil expressed enthusiasm for the launch at a time when global trade dynamics are evolving rapidly. He said, "Our mission is to create new opportunities, drive economic growth, and foster innovation by leveraging the strengths of Mexico and the EU."

A key focus of MexChamEU will be helping small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to expand into new markets, providing useful information and networking opportunities with other companies. It will also advocate for policies that facilitate trade and investment, and address any barriers that hinder economic cooperation.

Government officials, associations, and European business leaders participated in the ceremony, along with diplomats from other countries accredited in the EU, all of whom had the opportunity to exchange strategies for economic growth.

The Chamber of Commerce announced a series of initiatives and events, including information sessions with European and Mexican business associations and Mexican embassies in Europe.
