October 20-26, 2024: Massage Therapy Awareness Week

WHEREAS, years of research have demonstrated the effectiveness of massage therapy in a wide range of health treatments, including pain relief, management of cancer symptoms, reduction of depression, and overall enhancement of physical and mental well-being; and,

WHEREAS, many individuals recognize the benefits of massage therapy for their health and turn to massage as a vital component of their health care regimen; and,

WHEREAS, Massage Therapy Awareness Week provides an opportunity for massage therapists across the United States to promote the health benefits of their practice and raise awareness in their communities about the essential role massage therapy plays in maintaining and improving health; and,

WHEREAS, during this week, individuals can explore the many advantages of massage therapy, whether it be for pain management, stress reduction, or improving overall quality of life; and,

WHEREAS, Massage Therapy Awareness Week serves as a reminder of the importance of holistic approaches to health, and the significant contributions of massage therapists in helping people live healthier, more balanced lives;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gretchen Whitmer, governor of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 20-26, 2024, as Massage Therapy Awareness Week in Michigan.
