Long Beach, CA-The Long Beach Public Library will upgrade its catalog system, improving access to the library's collection, expanding search capabilities and enhancing the overall library experience online and in person. The upgrade process will take place beginning Monday, Oct. 7 through Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024, and the new, upgraded system will go live on Wednesday, Nov. 6.
The upgraded catalog will work similarly to the current but with enhanced features to better the user experience. Additional filter options will be added to the search feature, making it easier for patrons to find what they are looking for, as well as the ability to create specific searches and lists and save them in their accounts.
During the upgrade period, patrons will continue to have access to most Library services at all Library locations, including checking out items. Digital resources such as OverDrive, Libby, Hoopla and Udemy will remain accessible. Library programs, computers, Wi-Fi, study rooms and meeting rooms will continue to be available. However, the below Library services will be temporarily affected during the transition:
