NYSP arrests man for intentionally striking another with vehicle

On July 22, 2024, New York State Police arrested Skylar A. Clement, age 20 of Mount Upton, NY with the class "A" felony of attempted Murder in the second degree and the class "B" felony of Assault in the first degree.

An investigation began on July 21, shortly after 8 p.m. Troopers responded to County Route 18 and State Highway 51 in Butternuts where they discovered a victim was intentionally struck by a vehicle and the suspect fled the scene. The victim sustained serious injuries but is expected to survive. The victim was transported to Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City for treatment.

Overnight, Troopers and Investigators located the vehicle that was used at the time of the crime in Guilford. Clement was located shortly after 4 a.m. in the City of Norwich and taken into custody.

He was transported to the Otsego County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment.
