A man who committed a drug trafficking offense was sentenced today to 96 months in federal prison for possessing large quantities of cocaine.
Andrew St. John Pratt, age 31, from Dubuque, Iowa, received the prison term after a May 1, 2024 guilty plea to one count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance. During a search of Pratt's home in Dubuque, officers located distribution quantities of cocaine, cash, drug scales, and a firearm.
Pratt was sentenced in Cedar Rapids by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Pratt was sentenced to 96 months' imprisonment. He must also serve a four-year term of supervised release after the prison term. There is no parole in the federal system.
Pratt is being held in the United States Marshal's custody until he can be transported to a federal prison.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Nicole L. Nagin, and it was investigated by the Dubuque Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
