Anderson-Majors joins Cameron staff

Tyler Anderson-Majors has joined the Cameron University staff as Director of Student Housing and Residence Life, heading the office that serves as the hub for students who choose to live on-campus in one of two housing options: traditional residence hall-style and apartment-style. The Office of Student Housing and Residence Life can serve more than 650 residential students.

"We are thrilled to welcome Tyler Anderson-Majors to the Cameron University family," says Dr. Leslie Cothren, Acting Dean of Students. "His experience in student housing, including the development and implementation of programs that elevate the collegiate experience of campus residents, will no doubt elevate the quality of residential life on the Cameron campus."

As director of the Office of Student Housing and Residence Life, Anderson-Majors will provide overall guidance and leadership as he oversees the operation and management of Cameron's residential facilities. Responsibilities include oversight in the planning and coordination of social and educational programs for residents; hiring, training and evaluating staff; administering budgets; responding to resident concerns and suggestions; overseeing judicial affairs and disciplinary actions related to university housing, and more. Additionally, he will work closely with the director of food services to ensure that a successful food services program is available.

Anderson-Majors comes to CU from Reinhardt University, a private institution in Waleska, Ga., where he served as director of residence life and community standards. His background also includes stints at The University of Illinois Springfield and Barton Community College. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of North Texas at Dallas and a Master of Science degree in Intelligence and Security Studies from Lebanon Valley College.

Cameron offers two housing options: Cameron Village, which contains 2- and 4-bedroom apartments, and the Shepler Center, which offers a traditional dormitory environment via single and double rooms.
