Poway Continues Investing in Park Improvements

The new adventure-themed playground at Lake Poway may be the biggest - and most talked about - park project of the past year, but it's certainly not the only. The City of Poway continues to invest in improvements of all sizes to keep our parks a great place to play and gather.

The basketball court at Starridge Park went from drab to fab with a complete makeover that includes a colorful resurface, and new basketball poles, extension arms, backboards and rims. Basketball courts at three other parks (Community, Hilleary and Adobe Ridge) also were fitted with new poles, extension arms, backboards and rims.

The restroom at Valle Verde Park, Poway's most used public restroom, recently debuted its brand-new interior remodel, including new urethane floors and walls, fresh paint; new waterproof LED overhead lighting; new stainless-steel toilets, urinals, sinks and accessories; and new toilet partitions. Stay tuned for the next restroom remodel, which will be at Starridge Park this fall.

Poway is making staying hydrated more accessible for people and their pets. New water stations were installed at Lake Poway, Community, Garden Road, Bette Bendixen and Silverset parks. Thirsty visitors can use the traditional water fountain option, try out the bottle refill station or pet fountain (at the ground level).

Recent pathway extensions completed walking path loops at Community and Starridge parks. Both projects were the result of community feedback. The Community Park pathway was identified as a needed improvement in the city's 2021 Community Park needs assessment. The Starridge Park pathway was the result of feedback from neighbors who expressed their interest in having a complete loop around the park.
