CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. (Oct. 5, 2024) - Tropical Milton has developed in the Gulf of Mexico and is forecast to intensify further as it approaches the gulf coast, with Charlotte County currently within the 5-day cone of uncertainty. Watches may be issued in the next 24 to 36 hours.

The current forecast indicates the earliest arrival of tropical storm winds Tuesday night. Storm surge, flooding rainfall and damaging winds are all potential impacts to our area. The degree to which the county experiences impacts will depend on the storm's landfall; however, it is important to note significant impacts can be felt well away from the center of the storm.

Charlotte County urges residents to stay vigilant, monitor the storm's progress, review emergency plans, and ensure hurricane kits are ready. For more information, view the county's disaster guide at www.CharlotteCountyFL.gov/disasterguide.
