Honoring Champions of Change

Goshen - Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus is honored to announce that Inaudy Gil, Executive Director of the Orange County Human Rights Commission, was awarded the 2024 Cornerstone of the Community Award by Safe Harbors of the Hudson. This award recognizes the vision, leadership, and hard work of community champions making positive change in Newburgh.

"In today's complicated world, we need to ensure that basic human rights are upheld and supported," said Neuhaus. "Inaudy has the skills, education, and personal background to make a difference. I congratulate Inaudy on receiving this honor; I am so proud she is part of the Orange County Government team."

Gil started with Orange County in 2017 and for the last six years has worked closely with government officials, community groups, and organizations on combating discrimination and building diversity, equity, accessibility, and inclusion for everyone. She is the founder and principal strategist of IIJ Consulting, an international firm that works with organizations to build intentional and strategic cultural change.

"I am grateful and honored to be recognized as this year's Safe Harbors' Cornerstone of the Community, joining so many incredible honorees before me," said Gil. She attributes much of her drive and accomplishments to her parents, who instilled the importance of work and sacrifice, and the significant influence of key women who have mentored her in her life.

"It is a privilege to be able to advocate for underrepresented voices in our communities, and I am proud to work in Orange County, where this work is recognized as a vital part of what we do," Gil added.
Inaudy has served on numerous state and local boards and committees, including currently serving on the Boards of Directors for Cornerstone Family Health Center, the Desmond Center for Community Engagement and Wellness, and the Community Foundation of Orange and Sullivan.
