PHILADELPHIA (August 14, 2024) - Sanjay S. Reddy, MD, FACS, Division Chief of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, recently received the center's 2024 Medical Staff Executive Committee Faculty Citizenship Award.

"This distinction is well deserved by Dr. Reddy. He greatly exemplifies the humanity, expertise, and quality of care that we seek to provide here at Fox Chase," said Robert Uzzo, MD, MBA, FACS, President and CEO of Fox Chase.

The award honors a recipient who demonstrates connection, compassion, and care. Many patients have praised Reddy for the care they have received from him, specifically citing his professionalism, dedication, and compassion.

Reddy joined the Fox Chase team in 2012 as a fellow in the Department of Surgical Oncology. "I chose to stay because of the highly sophisticated cancer care patients are offered. The spirit of Fox Chase was echoed throughout the institution, and commitment from the faculty to advancing cancer care was very important to me. It is a tremendous honor to receive this award from an organization that has let me grow as a clinician and individual."

In addition to providing high-quality patient care, Reddy holds several high-profile positions at Fox Chase. In addition to being an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, he is the Program Director for the Complex General Surgical Oncology Fellowship and Co-Director of the Marvin & Concetta Greenberg Pancreatic Cancer Institute. He also holds the Marvin S. Greenberg, MD, Chair in Pancreatic Cancer Surgery.

"Fox Chase Cancer Center is a powerhouse of an institution, and I'm endlessly thankful to my colleagues for their trust in, and support of, my work," said Reddy.

Reddy has garnered many other accolades during his tenure at Fox Chase, including being named a top doctor by Philadelphia magazine in 2023 and 2024 and being named a Top Physicians Under 40 by the Pennsylvania Medical Society in 2020. He was recently awarded the Society of Surgical Oncology's Career Catalyst Mentorship Program Award and continues to play a significant role in that society's organizational structure with its fellowship training program.

Reddy's reputation for building Fox Chase's pancreatic cancer program has had regional and national reach. The development of several multidisciplinary investigator-initiated clinical trials continues to push the boundaries of pancreatic cancer care and treatment options for patients. The faculty citizenship award will serve as a mechanism to champion these patient-centered initiatives, Reddy said, which aligns with the mission of Fox Chase.
