BOZEMAN - Works from dozens of Montana artists will be auctioned to fund scholarships for Montana State University art students at an event to be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in the Emerson Center Ballroom, 111 S. Grand Ave.

The event will also feature online auctions. Auction previews will be held Oct. 3 at 5 p.m. and Oct. 4 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Emerson ballroom. Tickets for the formal dinner and auction cost $150 and can be purchased online. Proceeds from the event will be placed in an endowment fund for student scholarships in the School of Art.

The auction will include art donated by MSU alumni, faculty and current students. It coincides with the College of Arts and Architecture's celebration of 50 years housed in MSU's arts complex, which includes Cheever Hall, Haynes Hall, Howard Hall and the Visual Communications Building on campus.

Josh DeWeese, director of the School of Art, said the event marks a milestone in the history of the school and recognizes artists who have been affiliated with MSU in the last half century while saluting Montana's artists of the future.

"This is a celebration of all the work that has happened in these facilities over the past 50years and of all the lives that have been changed," he said. "Likewise, as the cost of higher education continues to rise, the auction will impact Montana's future by providing vital support to student artists."

The event will begin with a cocktail hour at 5 p.m., followed by a dinner and live auction. Online auctions will close that evening.
