Tropical Storm Ernesto caused Virgin Islands National Park to postpone the public meeting planned to discuss National Park Service policy for the Request for Qualifications (RFQ) process. The park is rescheduling the meeting to be held on Thursday August 22, 2024, at 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM. The meeting will be hosted in the new Resource Management and Science (RMS) building conference room at Lind Point where National Park officials from the Support Office in Washington, D.C. will be present to help answer questions about the RFQ process.
This preliminary meeting will cover general NPS RFQ policy to facilitate understanding for interested parties of how to submit their RFQs when the process opens for Caneel Bay to rehabilitate, rebuild, improve, and operate overnight lodging accommodations in the park. During this process, interested parties will submit a summary of their qualifications to operate their proposed business in accordance with NPS policies. The RFQ is the prequalifying phase before Requests for Proposals (RFP) can be accepted by the NPS.
"Virgin Islands National Park is still in the process of cleaning up and reopening from Tropical Storm Ernesto, but we feel that it is important to have this meeting as soon as possible. We are inspired by the resilient spirit of this community, and the push to get back to the business at hand," said Superintendent Penelope Del Bene.
We look forward to seeing you all at the public meeting on August 22, 2024. A shuttle will be provided from the Cruz Bay Visitor Center at 5:30 PM local time and leave Lind Point at 6:45 PM.
