Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area invites you to join volunteers nationwide for nation's largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands.

On September 28, tens of thousands of volunteers across the country will join in trail maintenance, planting projects, trash pick-ups, and other activities aimed at restoring and caring for our public lands to celebrate the 30th annual National Public Lands Day (NPLD). Organized each year by the National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF), National Public Lands Day is the nation's largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands.

On NPLD, from 10 am - 12 pm, we're hosting litter pick-up events in three park locations.

  • Hunters:
    • Sign-in and register at Hunters Day Use.
    • Litter pick-up along Hunters Campground Road.
  • Kettle Falls:
    • Sign-in and register at Kettle Falls Day Use.
    • Litter pick-up along the Boise Cascade/Kettle Park Road.
  • Spring Canyon:
    • Sign-in and register at Spring Canyon Cemetery Parking Area.
    • Litter pick-up along Spring Canyon Campground Road.
At 9:45 am, meet and sign-in at the registration table. Clean-up lasts 10 am - 12 pm. Park will provide orientation talk, trash bags, gloves, trash grabbers, maps, and safety vests. Feel free to bring your own supplies. Make sure to bring water, sun protection, wear appropriate clothing, and closed toe shoes.

Volunteers receive free access waiver to enter any federal public land with an entry fee for FREE! This volunteer opportunity counts towards volunteer hours for schools and organizations. If you need signature, please remember to bring your forms.
