Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Chung Byung-won Meets with Deputy Secretary of Gansu Provincial Party Committee of China

1. Deputy Minister for Political Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Chung Byung-won had a meeting with Shi Moujun, Deputy Secretary of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, at MOFA between 9:00 and 9:30 on Wednesday, August 7, and exchanged views on Korea-China relations and ways for enhancing cooperation between Korea and Gansu Province, among other topics.

2. Deputy Minister Chung welcomed Deputy Secretary Shi's visit to Korea and conveyed his expectations that the visit will help expand Korean cooperation with Gansu Province, a region that abounds with minerals and energy resources.

3. Deputy Secretary Shi appreciated the warm welcome and active support provided by the Korean government and expressed his wish that his visit will contribute to ramping up exchanges and cooperation between Korea and Gansu Province and thereby to promoting the bilateral relations between Korea and China.

4. Deputy Minister Chung requested that the government of Gansu Province extend support to Korean enterprises to ensure their stable investment and business activities in the region .

5. Deputy Secretary Shi's visit to Korea, the first of its kind by a leader of Gansu Province, is expected to contribute to the promotion of high-level exchanges between Korea and Gansu Province.
