MAYOR GOODWIN ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS OF THE 2024 HOLLY JOLLY BRAWLEY MAYOR’S CHOICE AWARD, HONORABLE MENTION

(Charleston, W. Va.) - Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin this evening announced Erica Lord Law Group as the recipient of the 2024 Holly Jolly Brawley Mayor's Choice Award and West Virginia Eye Consultants as the recipient of the 2024 Holly Jolly Brawley Mayor's Choice Honorable Mention. In addition, NAME was awarded the Capitol Market Award. The award ceremony preceded the official kick-off for this year's Holly Jolly Brawley-including the Official City Tree Lighting.

"When we hosted our first Official City Tree Lighting during the pandemic, it was a small but meaningful way to bring holiday cheer to our community during a challenging time. It's incredible to see how 25 trees, decorated by local businesses and organizations, has grown into a multi-day event where folks come together to create lasting memories. The tree lighting continues to be a highlight - providing a moment to reflect on the joy and togetherness that make Charleston a wonderful place to call home," said Mayor Amy Shuler Goodwin. "I also want to take this opportunity to recognize the creativity of the individuals, organizations, and businesses who make Holly Jolly Brawley so special-the folks who meticulously decorate each tree, from City Center at Slack Plaza to Lee Triangle."

Voting for the People's Choice Award will be open through Saturday, November 30 at 5 p.m. To participate, scan the QR Code on the tree, look for "Which tree is #CWV favorite?" and click "VOTE!!" to open the form.

"It is an honor for Erica Lord Law Group to receive the 2024 Holly Jolly Brawley Mayor's Choice Award for our peppermint themed Christmas tree in Brawley Walkway," said Erica Lord, Esquire. "Being part of a celebration that brings families, friends, and neighbors together is incredibly special - reflecting the spirit of our Capital City and the holiday season."

"West Virginia Eye Consultants is thrilled to receive the 2024 Holly Jolly Brawley Mayor's Choice Honorable Mention for our Grinch themed tree display," said Katie Singleton, Director of Business Development and Premium Services. "It is truly humbling to be recognized among more than 160 creative and festive displays, all of which are incredible! This event is a wonderful reminder of the community spirit that shines so brightly in our Capital City during these events. Our team is honored to have played a small role in making this year's Holly Jolly Brawley memorable for everyone."

In 2020, the City hosted its first Official Tree Lighting Ceremony at Slack Plaza and engaged local organizations and businesses to decorate 25 trees as a way to bring holiday cheer during the pandemic. The following year, the City collaborated with the Downtown Charleston Association to host the inaugural Holly Jolly Brawley which featured 50 beautifully decorated trees and 50 ornament style art pieces that hung int he sky above Brawley Walkway. Since then, the holiday celebration has grown to include more than 160 trees, food trucks, vendors, activities for all ages, a synchronized light show, and (new this year) a drone show.
