Mexican Consulates in Chicago, Kansas City, and Indianapolis Conduct Joint Mobile Operation
  • The initiative aims to bring consular services closer to Mexican communities abroad.
  • The consuls met with St. Louis government officials, migrant support organizations and community leaders to build partnerships, strengthen support for fellow nationals, and discuss strategies to address anti-immigrant initiatives ahead of the upcoming election.

From July 23-28, the Mexican consulates in Chicago, Kansas City and Indianapolis conducted a joint mobile operation in St. Louis, Missouri, with the goal of bringing consular services to more than 1,500 Mexicans living abroad. This is the second time these consulates have collaborated to deliver accessible and committed consular diplomacy.

The event took place at the International Institute of Saint Louis, where the Health Window, in collaboration with regional partners, offered health services and information, financial education, labor rights guidance and accident prevention advice. Officials issued a total of 1,888 documents, including passports, consular IDs, voter registration cards, birth certificates and OP7 forms.

As part of their consular protection responsibilities, Consuls Reyna Torres Mendivil, Soileh Padilla Mayer and Leticia Maki Teramoto-who lead the Mexican consulates in Chicago, Kansas City and Indianapolis, respectively-visited the St. Louis psychiatric hospital where some Mexicans are receiving care.

The consuls also met with St. Louis government officials, migrant support organizations and business and community leaders to foster partnerships that strengthen collaboration and support for the Mexican community. In light of the upcoming general elections, they strategized on how to address anti-immigrant initiatives, stressing the importance of unity and coordinated efforts to safeguard immigrant rights.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE), through the Directorate General of Consular Services, continues to strengthen its support for the Mexican community abroad, reaffirming its commitment to providing protection to all Mexicans abroad.
