UNM Art Museum kicks off Fall semester with Aug. 23 reception

As The University of New Mexico Art Museum prepares to reopen its doors for the new academic year, the campus community is welcomed and invited to reconnect with UNMAM through exhibitions, events, and student engagement opportunities.

To kick off the Fall 2024 semester, an opening reception, presented in partnership with the College of Fine Arts dean's office, will be held Friday, Aug. 23. From 4 to 7 p.m., UNMAM will celebrate both new and returning exhibitions with food catered by Fresko Mediterranean Fusion, a pop-up by Basement Films, and a performance by musician Hedia.

The UNM Art Museum will resume regular hours on Tuesday, Aug. 20 through Dec. 7, 2024:

Tuesday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Open late for shows in Popejoy Hall

In the Main Gallery and Van Deren Coke Galleries, Hindsight Insight 5.0, the final iteration of the multiyear exhibition series, is on exhibit. Created and curated by museum staff and collaborators, the exhibition features new artwork by five contemporary artists affiliated with UNM and a 19th century album of microscopic photographs of the natural world from the museum's collection.

Pelton & Jonson: The Transcendent 1930s will continue in the Raymond Jonson Gallery. Print in Action: Lithography and the Modern Worldwill remain on view through Oct. 5 in the Clinton Adams Gallery. Later in the semester, Graphic Art and Revolution: Latin American Political Posters 1968-2000 will open in the Clinton Adams Gallery, with more details coming soon.
