Construction of the Oak Center

Construction will soon begin on a new development at Simms Park. The Oak Center, a single-story, 12,355-square-foot facility, will be located near the southeast corner of Oak Street and Clark Avenue. This new facility will feature a reception area, community and youth rooms, offices, common spaces, a kitchen, and an open patio designed to serve residents of all ages. It will act as a hub for community events, activities, and programs led by the Parks and Recreation Department.

As part of this project, the existing volunteer center building will be demolished, and the Simms Park parking lot will be reconfigured. This reconfiguration will include an expansion to the east into a park area featuring ornamental landscaping. During construction, there will be limited parking and some impact on the park. We appreciate your patience as we work to bring this amazing new facility to life.

Construction is expected to be completed in the spring of 2026, and we look forward to celebrating its grand opening. Stay tuned for more updates.
