Informal Discussion between the Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Thailand and Foreign Ministers of China, Myanmar, and Lao PDR

On 16 August 2024, Mrs. Eksiri Pintaruchi, Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, had an informal discussion with H.E. Mr. Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China, H.E. U Than Swe, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and H.E. Mr. Saleumxay Kommasith, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, during the 9th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation (MLC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The 4 countries had a frank and constructive exchange of views on the important role of neighboring countries in helping to promote peace, stability, unity and development of Myanmar. They also discussed potential cooperation on border security and combating transnational organized crimes, especially narcotic drugs and online scams.
