Hop on an electric scooter, ride an e-bike, and discover how you can make one or both of these options into your own electric ride at an event designed to make it easier to buy, rent or use one.

You can meet local e-bike owners, hear their stories, and ask all your questions about life with an electric ride. You can also learn about credits, rebates, grants, and loans that help lower the cost of buying an EV or e-bike.

In Berkeley, the power for your electric ride most likely already comes from clean energy: all Berkeley residential PG&E customers receive 100 percent solar and wind energy as their default electricity. For those considering solar for their own home, come to Ride Electric to learn about available discounted solar programs.

Today's electric mobility options and e-bikes offer longer ranges, affordability, and the convenience of charging at home, work, or on the road. From e-scooters to EVs, there are flexible and budget-friendly ways to electrify your ride and use a greener way to get around.

Street parking is limited. Please consider walking, taking BART to the North Berkeley station, or AC Transit Bus #52. Bike parking is available.

Wheelchair and accessible options for e-scooters; financial incentives for all rides

E-scooters are within reach of more people than before.

Veo and Lime Assist, scooter-share companies operating in Berkeley, have accessible e-scooters. A wheelchair attachment for electric scooters will be on-site.

To find discounted membership plans, income qualified residents can also visit Veo Access and Lime Access for electric scooters, and Bay Wheels Bikeshare for All for classic and electric bikes.

For new or pre-owned electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids, federal tax credits and utility rebates make them more affordable to purchase or lease. Additionally, income-qualified drivers can apply for grants and loans to reduce the upfront costs of buying or leasing a new or used electric, plug-in hybrid, or hybrid vehicle.

Incentives for e-bikes may also be available or are in the works.

E-bikes are versatile vehicles for hilly or long commutes, as well as recreational rides. They provide the power to climb inclines longer, adventure farther, or just get there a bit faster without the sweat.

Bicycles, no matter how they are powered, use fewer natural resources than any car.

Transportation is the largest source of greenhouse gases locally, statewide, and nationally. Reducing car trips reduces the carbon impact of vehicles, which Berkeley supports through a variety of strategies, including improving access to shared cars, bikes, and scooters.

You can also take part in the City's Harvest Festival on October 19th at Cedar Rose Park - where the City of Berkeley will have crafts, games, food, live music and more.

The Ride Electric event is hosted in partnership with the City's Planning Department and the Ecology Center. If you are interested in volunteering at Ride Electric or showcasing your e-bike, please sign up.

Come out on October 19. You'll get a chance to hop on an e-bike, ride an electric scooter, talk to their owners and learn how to make your ride electric.
