Sens. Ossoff, Rev. Warnock Announce Federal Resources to Help Veterans Facing Homelessness

Atlanta, Ga. - U.S. Senators Reverend Raphael Warnock and Jon Ossoff today announced Federal funding to help Georgia veterans find homes and prevent homelessness.

Sens. Ossoff and Rev. Warnock are delivering over $31 million in Federal funding through the Department of Veterans' Affairs (VA) Supportive Services for Veteran Families program to nonprofit organizations across the state that help veterans find housing and prevent homelessness.

The Federal VA program helps provide case management and supportive services to prevent the imminent loss of a Veteran's home; identify a new, more suitable housing situation for the individual and his/her family; or help re-house Veterans and their families who are homeless and might remain homeless without this assistance.

"Our national honor requires that we lift up and support all who have sacrificed in America's defense. That's why Senator Warnock and I continue working to end veteran homelessness in Georgia and nationwide," said Sen. Ossoff.

"Our servicemembers and veterans are the best among us, and as a champion for all Georgians in the U.S. Senate, I will continue working to ensure they receive the help they are owed for their service to our nation,"said Senator Reverend Warnock.

Federal funding will go to nonprofit organizations across Georgia that work to prevent veteran homelessness and provide vital support:

Sen. Ossoff continues working to support Georgia veterans.

Last month, Sens. Ossoff and John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced bipartisan legislation to help veterans file post-discharge disability claims and more quickly establish contact with accredited VA representatives.

In April, Sen. Ossoff launched a push to pass the bipartisan GUARD VA Benefits Act of 2023, legislation he co-sponsored to protect Georgia veterans from predatory claim sharks seeking to take advantage of veterans applying for benefits they've earned.

In February, Sens. Ossoff, Susan Collins (R-ME), and John Thune (R-SD) introduced the Rural Veterans Transportation to Care Act to help more veterans in rural areas get transportation to VA health facilities and access the health care benefits they've earned.

In January, thanks to Sen Ossoff's bipartisan Access for Veterans to Records Act becoming law, the National Archives cleared a backlog of more than 400,000 records requests, enabling Georgia veterans to more quickly access their records and claim their benefits.
