Notice of Intent to Fill City Council Vacancy by Appointment

NOTICE OF INTENT TO FILL CITY COUNCIL VACANCY BY APPOINTMENT

The City of Fort Madison will have a vacancy on the City Council as of June 30^th, 2024, due to the resignation of Donna Amandus, Third Ward Council Member. The City Council pursuant to §372.13 of the Iowa Code, intends to fill this vacancy by appointment until the next regular City election held in November 2025, unless there is an intervening special election.

All persons interested in serving as the Third Ward Council Member are requested to submit a letter of interest, application and brief bio to the City Clerk at 811 Avenue E, Fort Madison, Iowa, or [email protected] no later than 4:30 P.M. on Friday, June 21, 2024.

The position will be filled by appointment at a meeting on July 2, 2024, at 4:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 811 Avenue E, Fort Madison, Iowa. The appointment will become effective immediately following this meeting. If electors wish to require a special election, a valid petition requesting a special election must be filed with the City Clerk within fourteen days after publication of this notice or within fourteen days after the appointment is made.
