The FDNY and the Police Athletic League of New York (PAL) teamed up for a series of educational events for Fire Prevention Month in Harlem, the Bronx and on Staten Island.
The initiative engaged hundreds of students from grades 2-5 at each event, teaching them the importance of fire safety and promoted careers with the FDNY. There were several units from the Department on display, including the robotics and K-9 units.
"We are proud to partner with the Police Athletic League to bring critical fire safety education directly to young New Yorkers across the city," FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker said. "Through interactive learning and firsthand experience with our units, we're not only teaching these children lifesaving safety skills, but we're also inspiring the next generation of FDNY's members. We strengthen community resilience by reaching young people in their neighborhoods."
