Public Meetings for Proposed Five-Year Consolidated Plan to Seek Input on Community Needs

September 4, 2024 at 2:16 pm

The City of Mesa is hosting three meetings to provide information and seek public input about the proposed 2025-2029 Five Year Consolidated Plan and a proposed Annual Action Plan for fiscal year 2025/2026 regarding community needs and funding priorities.

The in-person meeting will be held on Thursday, Sept. 12, at 6 p.m. at Mesa Council Chambers, 57 E. 1st St.

Additionally, two virtual meetings are scheduled for Oct. 9 and Oct. 16 and information can be accessed at www.mesalistens.com/hud5yearplanning.

The City is required to submit a multi-year Consolidated Plan and Annual Action Plan to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to receive funds from the following programs: Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), Home Investment Partnerships (HOME) and Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG).

The Consolidated Plan is a comprehensive planning document that identifies the Citys overall needs in housing and community development for low and moderate-income residents and outlines a five-year strategy to address those needs.

The Annual Action Plan contains the Citys short-term goals and strategies, including specific activities recommended for funding under the CDBG, HOME and ESG programs. The funds are used to help qualifying residents and assist in the prevention or elimination of slum or blighting influences.

These meetings will also allow for comment on barriers that affect fair housing rights. The analysis is required by HUD as a condition to receive funds from the CDBG program.

If you are unable to attend a meeting, written comments may be hand-delivered to:
