Pleasant Valley Fatal Crash

On November 15, 2024, the New York State Police began investigating a fatal one car crash in the town of Pleasant Valley.

At approximately 7:10 p.m., Christopher M. Rogers, age 55, of Poughkeepsie, operating a 2006 Honda sedan eastbound on Sherow Road failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection with North Avenue. The vehicle went through the intersection crossing both lanes of travel and struck the barrier on the east shoulder of North Avenue.

Rogers was transported to Vassar Brother's Medical Center with serious injuries. His passenger, Dawn Pociask, age 53, of Hyde Park, NY, was transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced deceased.

This investigation remains ongoing.
