Meet the MaxPRIDE ERG
Q: Describe the mission and goals of the MaxPRIDE ERG?
-
Rob: The MaxPRIDE ERG's mission is to provide an inclusive and safe community at Maxar where all employees are welcome to fearlessly be their authentic selves. We want to give members of the ERG opportunities to engage with each other and the community, raise awareness and provide resources to those needing support.
Q: How does the MaxPRIDE ERG define success?
-
Talor: Success can mean many things, to MaxPRIDE it is the feeling and knowledge that you are accepted as who you are however you identify inside the workplace.
Being a Part of the MaxPRIDE ERG
Q: How has being involved in theMaxPRIDE ERG impacted your experience at Maxar?
-
Talor: Being involved in this ERG has given me a sense of community within Maxar, not every company is as open and welcoming to the Queer community. This experience has positively impacted both my professional and interpersonal skills. As a co-chair, I've become more confident in advocating for inclusivity and equity within the workplace.
Q: Can you share a personal story about how the ERG has made a difference in your life?
-
Rob: Transitioning from a military environment, where I once had to conceal my true identity, to leading the MaxPRIDE ERG has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I not only get to be myself fully, but I also get to support others in the Queer community and its respective allies. The ERG has provided me with a platform to pursue my passion for equality and inclusion within the workplace.
The Impact of the MaxPRIDE ERG on Maxar
Q: What role does leadership play in supporting MaxPRIDE ERG goals and initiatives?
-
Rob: The support of our Executive Sponsors has played a crucial role in the success of the MaxPRIDE ERG. Their active participation in planning and executing events has motivated our members and demonstrated the inclusivity and importance of ERGs at all levels of Maxar. We've provided safe spaces for employees to speak openly to our leaders and ask for support and guidance. As a result, we've seen a 17% growth in membership in 2024.
Q: Can you share an example of a successful initiative or project MaxPRIDE ERG has undertaken?
-
Talor: One of our most successful initiatives was a MaxPRIDE T-shirt design contest that sparked creativity and enthusiasm within our ERG. The submissions we received were truly inspiring, and Connie Tang's vibrant design (as seen with this post), which captured the essence of our space-focused work, generated significant buzz. There is now a push throughout other ERGs to hold design contests to get continued engagement!
MaxPRIDE ERG and Culture
Q: How does theMaxPRIDE ERG help to foster a sense of belonging among Maxar employees?
-
Rob: This year we have really been focusing on getting our members together just to meet one another, talk and maybe learn something along the way. No set agenda, just a safe space to share stories, ask questions, laugh and build community.
Q: What role does allyship have in the MaxPRIDE ERG's success?
-
Talor: The LGBTQIA+ community has experienced significant growth, increasing from 3.5% in 2012 to 7.6% in 2023. Allies, who may not personally identify as LGBTQIA+, play a vital role in championing the voices and experiences of their Queer peers, friends, and family. Together, we can create a world where everyone feels safe, seen, and celebrated.
Communicating the MaxPRIDE ERG's Value

ERGs like MaxPRIDE empower minority and marginalized groups, fostering a sense of belonging and providing a platform for shared experiences. Events like our June watch party and monthly virtual hangouts create opportunities for open dialogue, knowledge sharing, and community building.
