UW Choirs to Present Singing Groups in Concert Nov. 16

University of Wyoming Department of Music choirs will present several performing groups in a combined concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts concert hall.

Performing will be the Singing Statesmen, Bel Canto, the Happy Jacks and 7720 Blues.

Tickets are $12 for the public, $9 for senior citizens and $6 for students. A nominal processing fee will be charged for each ticket. To purchase tickets, visit the Performing Arts box office, call (307) 766-6666 or go online at www.tix.com/ticket-sales/uwyo/6984.

The concert will open with the Singing Statesmen, conducted by Department of Music faculty member Brian Murray, performing works by Laura Farnell, Edvard Grieg, Carl Orff, Franz Schubert and Reginal Wright. Guest conductors are Michael Lechner and Emily Peterson; and musicians are Alisson Garcia, piano, and Crystal Sieger, horn.

The Happy Jacks will perform works by Weiss, Peretti, Creatore, Flaherty, Billy Joel, Alan Menken, Delugg and Stein.

7220 Blues, featuring student director Brynley LaChance and Bryn Catlin, piano, will perform "Words" by Anders Edenroth.

The second half of the concert will feature Bel Canto, conducted by Department of Music faculty member O'Neil Jones, conductor, and Isabela Araújo, piano, performing works by Michael John Trotta, Maurice Ravel, Kim Arnesen and Elaine Hagenberg. Emily Peterson is guest conductor, and the concert will feature soloists Giovanna Volpi Schmeiske, violin, and Magdalena Wór, mezzo-soprano.
