Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar paid an official visit to Thailand
On 11 November 2024, H.E. Mr. Russ Jalichandra, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, held bilateral talks with H.E. Dr. Ahmad bin Hassan Al-Hamadi, Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar during his official visit to Thailand.
Both sides discussed ways to further strengthen bilateral relations and expand cooperation across various sectors, such as trade and investment, education, tourism, and public health. Both sides also conveyed a shared determination to expedite the finalization of pending agreements while promoting high-level exchanges and the convening of the 1st Thai-Qatar Political Consultation in 2025.
The two sides also exchanged views on the situation in the Middle East. The Vice Minister commended Qatar for its pivotal role as a mediator, particularly highlighting its success in facilitating negotiations for humanitarian pauses in Gaza, and sought the Qatari side's continued support for the prompt release of the remaining six Thai hostages. Lastly, both sides conveyed mutual congratulations on the successful election of Thailand and Qatar as members of the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC) for the 2025-2027 term.
