On December 8, 2024 at approximately 10:00 a.m. the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a fast-food restaurant in the 600 block of Portage Avenue for the report of two adult males who had been assaulted.
Attending Central General Patrol officers located a 61-year-old male victim within the restaurant suffering from upper-body injuries sustained from being assaulted by an adult male suspect who had fled prior to their arrival. Officers located and arrested the suspect in the 200 block of Sherbrook Street without incident. The victim was assessed by WFPS members and medically cleared on scene.
Through their investigation, officers learned that the suspect had initially entered the parked vehicle of a food delivery driver and demanded a ride from the 33-year-old male victim, which was denied. The suspect began assaulting the driver inside and eventually, outside of the vehicle, before stealing his personal property. The victim sustained minor upper body injuries for which he did not require medical attention. The suspect remained in the surface lot where he attempted to enter other parked vehicles without success and proceeded to enter the restaurant. Once inside, the suspect approached the second victim and unprovoked, began to physically assault him causing upper-body injuries. Restaurant staff summoned police to attend.
The suspect and victims were not previously known to one another.
Logan Stanley BAKER, 20, of Winnipeg is charged with Robbery and Assault Cause Bodily Harm.
He was detained in custody.
