Equinor – Oseberg H – materials handling and emergency preparedness

The audit was conducted from 2 to 5 September 2024.

Objective

The objective of the audit was to verify that Equinor's management of materials handling, lifting operations, personnel transfer and emergency preparedness using service operation vessels (SOVs) at the unmanned Oseberg H installation complied with the regulatory requirements as well as the company's own requirements. A further objective was to monitor how Equinor has followed up and worked systematically to prevent accidents.

Result

The audit identified two non-conformities, concerning:

  • Training of the emergency preparedness organisation
  • Man overboard boat (MOB boat) emergency response

We also identified two improvement points, concerning:

  • Training and practice in the use of the personnel basket (FROG)
  • Gangway notation

What happens now?

We have asked Equinor to report on how the non-conformities will be addressed, and for their assessment of the improvement points observed. The reply deadline is set at 18 November 2024.
