NELSON MANDELA BAY INTENSIFIES EFFORTS TO COMBAT CRIME

In a series of coordinated operations, Nelson Mandela Bay has demonstrated its unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety of its residents. Over the past weekend, multiple joint compliance operations were conducted across various areas, yielding significant results.

On Friday, September 13, 2024, a comprehensive joint compliance operation was executed in Kariega. The operation involved Metro Police, South African Police Service (SAPS), various municipal departments, and Immigration Services. The successes included issuing fines for operating shops illegally, resulting in the closure
of the shops, issuing a fine for illegal dumping, confiscating 203 male enhancement tablets and 203 skin lightening creams valued at R10,650, and issuing 24 traffic fines.

On Saturday, September 14, 2024, a liquor compliance operation was conducted in the Humewood/Central area with the participation of Metro Police, SAPS, Immigration Services, and Traffic and Licensing. The operation resulted in the arrest of six illegal
immigrants and two arrests for drunken driving. Additionally, Operation Shanela was carried out in the Humewood/Central area with the involvement of SAPS, Metro Police,
and Traffic and Licensing, leading to five arrests for drunken driving.

On Sunday, September 15, 2024, a liquor compliance operation was conducted in Walmer, involving SAPS and Immigration Services. The operation resulted in the
arrest of twelve illegal immigrants and one arrest for drunken driving. These operations underscore Nelson Mandela Bay's intensified efforts and steadfast
commitment to maintaining law and order. The collaborative efforts of various law enforcement agencies and municipal departments have been pivotal in achieving these successes. The community is encouraged to continue supporting these initiatives to create a safer environment for all.
