Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) is ranked among the Top 25 "Most Diverse Medical Schools" in the nation, according to U.S. News & World Report in its 2024 Best Medical Schools publication, released today. Furthermore, NEOMED was ranked as the second-most diverse medical school in Ohio and recognized as a U.S. News Best Graduate School.

The new report showed an improvement in diversity for NEOMED's College of Medicine, placing it at #23 in the nation, compared to last year's ranking of #41 for the same category. U.S. News used two main indicators to measure diversity - total underrepresented minority (URM) student enrollment and ratio of a school's URM population to state or national numbers.

"Northeast Ohio Medical University students demonstrate a tremendous desire to serve in the areas where they are needed the most," said NEOMED President John T. Langell, M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., M.B.A. "We take pride in training future doctors who are reflective of Ohio's communities and wish to serve rural and urban areas where increased access to health care is greatly needed."

NEOMED also outpaced many other prestigious medical schools in categories focused on graduating doctors who serve in rural areas, health professional shortage areas, and primary care.
