Student Film Receives National Recognition

Muskingum University media production major Vincent Bachmann '25 won national recognition for his film "Student Anomaly" at the National Student Production Awards hosted by College Broadcasters, Inc. The award was presented during the 2024 National Student Media Convention in Seattle, Washington.

The film, which Vincent wrote, directed, and edited, received fourth place nationally in the category of Long Film Fiction. He initially created the film for MEDIA-308, a video production and editing course taught by Assistant Professor of Media Communication Michael Carvaines.

"Working in the film industry is my dream," said Vincent. "I have had a camera in my hand since I was four years old and cajoling my cousins to act in my movies. Being recognized for my work is such a great honor and a validation that I am on the right career path.

"I've attended two National Student Media Conventions during my time at Muskingum," he added. "I've learned so much from industry professionals through the presentations, panels, and networking at these events. Traveling with our group from Orbit Media and meeting students from across the country who share my interest have been great experiences for me.

"I'm so appreciative of the opportunities I've had here at Muskingum and the support I've received, especially from Professor Carvaines and all who helped with the film."

Vincent serves as Video Editor for Orbit Media and is planning to attend graduate school in the fall of 2025.
