Kenneth Womack, Ph.D., professor of English and Popular Music, recently participated in the panel event, "The Beatles Arrive in America: A Special Screening of Beatles '64," hosted by The Paley Center for Media.
Womack joined panelists David Tedeschi, the film's director; Anthony Mason, senior culture and senior national correspondent for CBS News; Debbie Gendler Supnik, television executive producer and author; Jamie Bernstein, writer, narrator, and author; and Jordan Runtagh, executive podcast producer at iHeartMedia and contributing writer for Rolling Stone, who served as the event's moderator.
The event featured a viewing of the film "Beatles '64," a documentary from producer Martin Scorsese and Tedeschi, which captures the excitement of The Beatles' first American visit in February 1964 through rare and previously unseen footage filmed by pioneering documentarians Albert and David Maysles.
Womack has authored numerous books, including "Solid State: The Story of Abbey Road and the end of the Beatles," "John Lennon 1980: The Last Days in the Life," and "Living the Beatles Legend: The Untold Story of Mal Evans."
