In a gripping tale of betrayal, revenge, and blurred realities, the film 'Saali Mohabbat' weaves a twisted connection between past and present, offering a thriller that transcends plot twists to explore raw emotions and rich character-driven drama. At a press conference held during the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) being held in vibrant state of Goa, the team of 'Saali Mohabbat' interacted with the Media and shared their experience and aspirations on making the film.
Celebrated fashion designer Manish Malhotra, making his debut as a producer, discussed how his fashion industry background influenced his filmmaking style, particularly in visual storytelling and attention to detail. He emphasized the importance of a grounded, authentic narrative that focused on character depth rather than spectacle. Malhotra expressed excitement about exploring the whodunit genre, aiming to create a story that resonated emotionally and connected with the audience, rather than relying on traditional plot twists.
Co-producer Jyoti Deshpande highlighted the significance of meticulous storytelling, pointing out that whodunits have not seen major successful films in recent years. She expressed pride in premiering the film in India, stressing the rarity of world premieres in a film's home country. Deshpande was particularly excited about the film's character-driven approach, noting how it would stand out for its emotional engagement rather than relying on shock value.
Director Tisca Chopra spoke about her vision for the film, focusing on subtlety and emotional resonance rather than traditional genre tropes. She emphasized collaboration within the team, where every detail-from the script to the performances-contributed to the film's overall impact.
Actor Dibyendu highlighted the film's departure from typical whodunits by focusing on character complexity rather than external suspense. He described how the team built psychological tension through the characters' relationships and motivations, ensuring that the audience's engagement was rooted in the depth of the story and its emotional core.
The team concluded by emphasizing their goal to create a film that was emotionally compelling and thought-provoking, ensuring the audience left with a deeper understanding of the characters and their motivations.
