Members Set Policy on Key Issues and Elect Leaders at Annual Meeting and Convention

Delegates representing farm and ranch families from all 93 Nebraska counties outlined key agricultural policy priorities and elected new leaders for Nebraska Farm Bureau (NEFB) as part of the organization's 107th Annual Meeting and Convention held Dec. 8-10 in Kearney. Delegates discussed a broad spectrum of agricultural policy issues to provide direction for the organization.

Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation Hosts 90s Country Throwdown Grower's Gala

The Nebraska Farm Bureau Foundation held its annual Grower's Gala on Dec. 9, during the 2024 Nebraska Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and Convention. The evening included dinner, a live auction, and a 90s country dance party.

David Schuler Wins NEFB Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet

Morrill County Farm Bureau member, David Schuler, won the 2024 Nebraska Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet. The award was announced Dec. 10 at the Member Appreciation luncheon at Nebraska Farm Bureau's 107th Annual Convention in Kearney.  

Cody Maricle Named Collegiate Discussion Meet Champion

Cody Maricle of Boone County took top honors at the 2024 Nebraska Farm Bureau Collegiate Discussion Meet. The award was announced Dec. 10 at the Member Appreciation luncheon at Nebraska Farm Bureau's 107th Annual Meeting and Convention in Kearney.

Economic Tidbits: Crop Expenses Drift Lower

Crop production expenses will continue receding next year according to the 2025 crop budget estimates released by the Center for Agriculture Profitability (CAP) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. If true, it will be the second consecutive year expenses have receded. Yet despite the retreat, costs remain much higher relative to a few years ago.

Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza Detected in Nebraska Poultry

In the past week, the Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA), in conjunction with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has detected two cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in poultry flocks in Nebraska. These cases represent the second and third cases of HPAI in Nebraska poultry in 2024.
